States where Personify stopped lending
Personify's rates page marks both as "we no longer offer any loan products". Many third-party reviews still count them — a quick way to spot stale information.
States where Personify is not available (22)
Live in one of these? Personify isn't an option, but our request form reaches lenders that serve most states. Offers follow your state's rate caps, which in places like New York or Pennsylvania means much lower APRs — if you qualify.
Per-state loan limits and notes
| State | Amount | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Georgia | $3,100–$10,000 | Lender: ADF of Georgia, LLC (state licence) |
| Hawaii | $1,600–$15,000 | Higher minimum |
| Wisconsin | $500–$15,000 | Origination fee ≤5% or $175 |

Who actually makes the loan
Personify's "Who Makes the Loan" table is unusually clear: loans at or above 36% APR are made by First Electronic Bank in every lending state except Georgia; Georgia loans come from ADF of Georgia; and loans below 36% APR come from Participating Creditors. State-licensed affiliates exist for Alabama, California, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, New Mexico and South Carolina, though California, New Mexico and South Carolina are not currently lending states.

If you live in a non-lending state: what to do instead
Your state's rate cap is working in your favour. In New York (25% criminal usury), Pennsylvania (6% without a licence; licensed lenders ~24%), Illinois (36% all-in) and California (36% + federal funds rate on loans $2,500–$10,000), the offers you'll see are structurally cheaper than anything Personify makes. The trade-off is that approval is harder at those rates, so more applicants are declined. Our request form routes to lenders licensed for your state; if nothing comes back, a credit union is the next call.
People also ask about state availability
Why isn't Personify available in California, New York or Illinois?
Those states have strong rate caps and, in California's and Illinois's case, anti-evasion laws aimed specifically at bank-partner lending (Illinois's Predatory Loan Prevention Act, 2021; California's Fair Access to Credit Act, 2020). Lending there at 36%+ would invite enforcement, so Personify doesn't. New York's criminal usury cap is 25%.
What changed in New Mexico and South Carolina?
New Mexico capped consumer loans at 36% APR effective 2023 and its regulator has pursued bank-partner lenders; Personify stopped new loans there. South Carolina's change is not explained publicly; Personify's rates page simply marks it as no longer offered while still showing the licence and rate schedule for existing loans.
Is Personify available in Washington, DC?
No. Some review sites list DC; Personify's own dropdown does not include it as of October 22, 2026. DC's attorney general sued OppFi — another First Electronic Bank partner — in 2021 over the same model.
Can I use a relative's address in a lending state?
No. The application verifies your residence against your ID, credit file and bank records, and misrepresenting your state on a credit application is fraud. If you live outside the 27 states, use a lender that serves yours — our request form does that automatically.
What if I move after taking a Personify loan?
Nothing changes; the loan is governed by the agreement you signed. Update your address with the servicer through the Borrower Portal.
Which states are most likely to see sub-36% offers?
Those with anti-evasion statutes — Virginia (2020 Fairness in Lending Act) and Minnesota (2023 law targeting loans above 50% APR) — where Personify has an incentive to route more applicants to participating creditors under 36%. We have no data on actual approval mix; it is an inference from the law.
Frequently asked questions
Is Personify Financial available in California?
No. Despite its San Diego headquarters, Personify does not lend in California. New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Washington are also excluded.
Why did Personify stop lending in New Mexico and South Carolina?
Personify's rates page now says it no longer offers loans in either state. New Mexico adopted a 36% rate cap in 2023; South Carolina changes are not explained publicly. Existing loans are still serviced.
Can I apply if I live in a state Personify doesn't serve?
Not with Personify. Our request form reaches lenders that serve most states; what is offered depends on your state's lending laws.
Does the loan amount differ by state?
Mostly no: $500–$15,000. Georgia is $3,100–$10,000 and Hawaii's minimum is $1,600. Wisconsin caps the origination fee at 5% or $175.
Is Personify available in Pennsylvania?
No. Pennsylvania caps consumer loan rates and is not on Personify's list.
Is Personify available in Texas?
Yes — $500–$15,000 at 36%–179.50% APR via First Electronic Bank.
Is Personify available in Georgia?
Yes, but with different terms: $3,100–$10,000, lent directly by ADF of Georgia, LLC.
Is Personify available in Washington state?
No, and some CFPB complaints come from Washington borrowers who received loans anyway through the bank partner.
How often does Personify's state list change?
Rarely, but it does: NM and SC were dropped. We re-check the lender's dropdown and date this page.
